Driver Requirements & Age Limits (25+ Years)
- All drivers must be at least 25 years of age to rent and drive any vehicle in the Time Out fleet.
- All drivers must hold a valid driver's license from their home country or international driving license for a minimum of 2 years.
- Additional drivers (US$10.00/day) can be registered on the rental agreement upon vehicle handover with valid driving credentials.
- Primary driver must be present at vehicle delivery with physical driver's license and passport/ID.
Barbados Vehicle Rental Levy (No Permit Required)
- In Barbados, overseas visitors only require their valid home driver's license held for at least 2 years. Physical visitor driving permits are no longer required by the Barbados Licensing Authority.
- Statutory Government Levy: A statutory levy of US$2.50 (BDS$5.00) per day applies, capped at a maximum of 7 days (US$17.50 / BDS$35.00 total) regardless of rental duration.
- This statutory levy is automatically calculated and itemized in your rental total.
Payment, Mandatory 25% Deposit & Arrival Balance
- Reservation Review: Every reservation is reviewed by our reservations team to confirm vehicle availability before payment.
- Online Deposit: Once approved, a mandatory 25% reservation deposit is collected online via Fygaro (Barbados & Caribbean secure card gateway) to lock your vehicle dates. You may also opt to pay in full (100%).
- Accepted Cards: Visa, MasterCard, and major debit/credit cards with secure Caribbean processing.
- Remaining Balance: If paying the 25% deposit, the remaining 75% balance is payable upon vehicle arrival by Cash (USD or BDS at 2:1) or Card terminal.
Fuel Policy: Full to Full
- Every vehicle is handed over with a full tank of fuel.
- Please return the vehicle full so you only pay for the fuel you actually burn during your island exploration.
- If returned with less fuel, local pump replacement cost plus a standard refueling service charge applies.
Insurance Packages: Basic CDW vs Exclusive Protection
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): US$15.00 per day. US$1,500 excess (deductible), US$300 refundable security deposit. Covers minor damages and minor dents (does not cover windshields, tyres or major damage).
- Exclusive Protection: US$30.00 per day. Zero excess (US$0 deductible), US$100 refundable security deposit. Comprehensive protection covering all damages.
- Standard third-party liability insurance is included with every rental in accordance with Barbados legal statutes.
- Security deposits are refunded promptly upon safe vehicle return and inspection.
Minimum 3-Day Rental Policy
- Time Out operates exclusively on a 3-day minimum rental requirement across all vehicle classes.
- Single-day (24-hour) rentals are not offered to ensure every vehicle receives thorough sanitization, multi-point mechanical inspection, and dedicated terminal curbside handover.
- Pricing displayed across our fleet reflects daily rates calculated over a 3-day baseline booking.
- For rentals of 7 days or more, our discounted weekly rates apply automatically with no excess mileage caps.
Flight Delays & Cancellation Policy
- Free cancellation up to 48 hours prior to scheduled handover.
- Flight Delay Guarantee: We monitor incoming flight numbers into Grantley Adams Airport (BGI). If your flight is delayed, your vehicle remains reserved with zero late penalty.
- Minimum rental duration: 3 consecutive days during standard and peak periods.

Can I rent a vehicle for just 1 or 2 days?
No. Time Out requires a 3-day minimum rental period for all bookings. This policy guarantees that every vehicle receives thorough detailing, mechanical safety inspection, and a dedicated personal terminal curbside handover at Grantley Adams Airport (BGI) or free hotel delivery.
Where do I meet Time Out Car Rentals at Grantley Adams Airport?
A Time Out representative meets you right outside the BGI arrivals hall with a personalized name sign. Your car is parked steps away in the immediate terminal lot. No shuttle buses or off-site waiting.
Can I have my vehicle delivered to my hotel or Airbnb villa?
Yes. We offer free delivery and pickup across the West Coast (Holetown, Mullins, Speightstown), South Coast (Christ Church, St. Lawrence Gap, Oistins), and St. Michael hotels.
Which side of the road do you drive on in Barbados?
